Flower work party

My job is like perfume. This might sound like crazy but let me explain to you this little theory.

The thing is that at my work people like celebrations. Birthdays, career-anniversaries, logos; they all call for a little (work) party of their own. Last week it was “Secretaries Day" and so my fellow female colleagues and I were "celebrated" with a huge bouquet of flowers.
The next morning, while getting ready for work, it dawned on me that the company that I work for is, somehow, like my Yves Rocher “Flowerparty” perfume. I guess you see what I mean? Parties and a celebration with flowers at work ...

P.S. Phew, maybe I am actually going crazy: must be the lack of inspiration - and hence the abscence of decent blogging - that makes me come up with the silliest of all theories.

The sequel

Movies with no ending, I like them. Not the dreary ones that you can hardly watch till the end because of their dullness. I mean the kind that doesn’t really end in the (often not so happy) end, with plots that leave you behind with trillions of questions, that make you wonder what will happen next and that make you long for a sequel. Then again an actual follow-up would ruin the experience of “ignorance” so after all it’s better the moviemakers leave it at that. For days I can keep thinking about such movies by imagining all plausible scenarios. At some point I then decide to stop envisaging how the story really ends because well, I guess it’s simply impossible to find out about what exactly “happened next”.

Last weekend I saw August: Osage County. It must be the ending (including the Kings Of Leon soundtrack) that makes me like the movie so much. By the way, I’m still in the overthinking phase.
P.S. What kind of movie endings do you like best?

Early Easter

Do you have a basket at hand? Yep, it’s that time of the year again, that period when one can go hunting ... Easter eggs. That is if you like deco-eggs; for the real stuff (the chocolate oval-shaped sweets that taste super great) you’ll have to wait till next Sunday.

Mr. Easter bunny has paid us a visit already (must have felt very welcome with that garland, you know) and hid some paper, wooden and “emptied” treats. You can find them in the pictures above.

P.S. Enjoy the weekend!

Temptation Island

At the beginning of this year I told myself not to buy any bags in 2014. So far I’ve managed but honestly, it has been difficult. Wherever I look, they’re there: Louis Vuitton and Delvaux bags, blinking at me; yelling my name. Advertisements of high-class second hand websites are the most tempting and the hardest to ignore. It feels like I am on temptation Island (aka the Isle of Bags) but still I haven’t collapsed. I've tried really hard to put the bags out of my mind ... by looking for nice shoes. Unfortunately the footwear I wanted seemed nowhere to be found, only I forgot about Fred de la Bretoniere.

The contemporary boots were originally designed in the seventies
and are characteristic of the Fred de la Bretoniere style.
It had been a while since I passed by the Fred store and when I remembered I decided to pay him a visit. Jackpot! There were like three pairs that really met my “demand” (i.e. a pair of boots that will serve as a worthy replacement for the beige summer (of 2011) Earthkeepers boots, that I wear with everything – skinny trousers and flares, dresses and skirts, at work and everywhere else I go.) Anyway, I found what I was looking for. Which basically comes down to this: I am now the proud owner of a pair of original SHABBIES and no new bag. Call this a miracle if you want because really, in true shoe-desperation, I almost did buy a piece of new "armwear".

P.S. Kind of pathetic, don't you think, nagging about things NOT to buy?

Buy O’clock

So that’s life. One goes to college/university, graduates, starts a “career” one way or another and moves in with Le Boyfriend (into a great rental apartment). Then, after a year or two it’s “buy o’clock”, time for a place of their own. Let me be clear about one thing: the “One” in the previous sentence is me. So yes, we did it, we took out a mortgage. (And are now burdened with it for the decades to come. Yay!)

However, this "event" implies that we are moving to a new place and that means massive brain activity. The thinking is about how to decorate the rooms (it is a two bedroom flat), about what to do with the plenty of stuff that I should get rid of in order to get the new place neat and clean and moreover about how to turn the patio into a private paradise.

I’ve spent pinning way too many hours over this the past few weeks. Luckily it wasn’t for nothing because I really found some nice and affordable ideas. If the handy (wo)man in me will rise by the beginning of June it might all end well and maybe some of you will even get (p)inspired by our new home.

P.S. Check out Elle’s Pinterest for more home pinning ideas.

An apology

No, the blog is not for sale nor has it been sold. It's just that Elle B. is exploring the world of real estate and this takes some time and energy.
I hope this post will do as an apology for Elle's absence this week. As she will be busy fixing everything for the “big move”, she might leave the blog for what it is in the weeks to come.

P.S. More about this project later on the Elle Basi, I promise.

Peacock pride

The design of this Petit Pan fabric has something of a peacock
don’t you think?

Anyway, once the semi-circle skirt that I’m planning to make with it is finished I’m going to be proud as a peacock.

P.S. Bloginspiration has been running low lately, hence the uninspiring content.
